Sustainable Transport to reduce emissions without complicating operations

Transport is undergoing major change to meet growing environmental requirements.

We support our clients in their transition toward sustainable transport by rationalising logistics practices (transport network design, load factors, etc.) and progressively introducing greener transport modes that generate less CO2.

Our convictions

Put in place centralised and strategic steering

  • The standards to be used, especially for GHG measurement, must be clear and consistent across regions.

  • Such a paradigm shift requires strong sponsorship, as it may lead to actions that conflict with other short-term business objectives. Strategic management, backed by committed sponsors, ensures real transformation.

  • Centralised steering also helps maintain overall consistency.

  • It also makes it possible to identify relevant local initiatives, share them more widely and scale them up.

Encourage initiatives and test

  • Harnessing the energy of your teams by encouraging local initiatives increases the likelihood of success while limiting risk.

  • Testing and pilot programmes make it possible to refine initiatives within a limited scope before considering a large-scale rollout.

Align with recognised standards

  • Identification of CO₂ emission reduction levers and the different potential decarbonisation pathways.
  • The clearer and more widely shared your reference frameworks are, the greater the acceptance of measurement and the stronger the incentive to act.

Measure to improve

  • Define the appropriate level of team centralisation or decentralisation, supported by a clear RACI—for example, central teams responsible for flow design and local teams overseeing operational management.
  • Foster genuine collaboration between procurement, transport, logistics, and other stakeholders through shared objectives and effective information sharing.
